This page has no sections.

Everything below is what the Teacher role gives you out of the box. If your school built you a wider role, you will have more; if a screen named here is missing from your sidebar, that is your school’s choice rather than a fault.

A day, in order

Clock in

Scan the QR code on the screen at reception with your phone camera. A link opens, a timer starts, and you can close the tab.

Your dashboard shows the timer running and who else is on site. Scan the same code on your way out.

Staff attendance and the QR clock

Take the register

Attendance → Take Register. Pick your class, press Mark all present, change the handful who are not there, and save.

Four statuses — Present, Late, Absent, Excused — and the difference between the last two is what makes your attendance figures worth anything.

The daily learner register

Chase an unexplained absence

Open the absent learner’s profile and press SMS Parent. Use absence template writes the message for you, naming the learner and today’s date. Check who it is going to, and send.

Sending an SMS to a guardian

Set homework

Academics → Homework. Subject, class, title, description, due date. It appears on every learner’s phone immediately, and on their parents’.

Before the next lesson, open the item to see exactly who has ticked it off.

Homework

Capture marks

Academics → Results. Create the assessment before the class writes it — name, type, total marks, weight, term, date. Afterwards, open it and type the marks against the enrolled learners.

Nothing is visible to a learner or a parent until you publish it. Capture over a week if you need to.

Assessments, marks and reports

Clock out

Scan the code again.

Your dashboard

Signing in gives you:

  • Today’s attendance — clock in and out, with a running timer.
  • Who is on site right now.
  • Your month — days present, absent, late, and average hours.
  • Announcements addressed to you.
Your dashboard mid-morning. The timer is live; the figures are for the month.

What you cannot, by default

Two things the Teacher role deliberately leaves out. Both exist as permissions, so your school can grant them to a role it builds:

  • Editing learner profiles. Names, dates of birth, addresses stay with administrators.
  • Creating announcements. Posting to the school stays with administrators.

You can also not see sensitive profile fields — ID numbers, medical aid, allergies — unless your school has granted View Full Profiles to your role. If you need allergy information for a school trip, ask; it is a permission your school can grant deliberately.

When your class list is empty

The register’s class picker lists the classes you are assigned to teach. Empty means one of:

  • You have no teaching assignment yet — an administrator sets those under Academics Settings.
  • Your school has no current academic year.
  • The learners have no grade, so they are on no roster.

None of the three is fixable from your side. Tell your administrator it is a teaching assignment, and it usually is.

Working from your phone

Everything works on a phone, and three things are built for it: clocking in, homework, and looking up a learner to message their parent. There is nothing to install — it is the same web address.
