Academics
Grade subjects and enrolments
Which subjects a grade takes, and which learners sit in each of them. Bulk enrol included.

This page has no sections.
Two related screens, and the difference between them matters:
- Grade Subjects says which subjects Grade 8 offers.
- Enrolments says which learners sit in each of them.
The first is a list per grade. The second is a list per learner. The first has to exist before the second can do anything.
Grade subjects
Set up your school → Grade Subjects.
Pick an academic year and a grade, then Add Subjects to attach subjects from your school’s list.
Each attachment carries two things worth setting:
- A code —
MATH,LO,PHSC. Optional, and useful on printed timetables and report cards where the full name will not fit. - Compulsory or elective. Compulsory subjects are the ones every learner in the grade takes; electives are chosen per learner.
Grade subjects are per year. Grade 10 in 2026 can offer a different set from Grade 10 in 2025, and the older year’s records stay intact.
Enrolments
Academics → Enrolments.
Enrolment is what lets a mark attach to the right learner in the right subject. Without it, a teacher capturing marks for Grade 9 Maths has no roster to capture against.
When a learner moves class
Moving a learner between classes inside the same grade does not disturb their enrolments — the subjects belong to the grade, not to the class.
Moving them to a different grade does. Their old enrolments belong to the old grade’s subjects, and they need enrolling in the new grade’s. Bulk enrol on the new class picks them up.
When a learner arrives mid-year
Add them, put them in a grade and class, then bulk enrol that class again. Learners already enrolled are left alone; the new arrival is picked up. Running bulk enrol twice is safe.
What enrolment feeds
- Marks. An assessment’s mark-capture list is its enrolled learners.
- Averages and report cards. A learner’s subject list comes from here.
- Year-end promotion. Final averages are computed across enrolled subjects.
- The timetable generator. Class sizes and subject loads are read from here.
